Samrat Choudhary Oath as CM of Bihar

In a historic shift for Bihar’s political landscape, Samrat Choudhary was officially sworn in today as the state’s 24th Chief Minister. The ceremony took place at the Raj Bhavan in Patna, where Governor Syed Ata Hasnain administered the oath of office. This transition marks the first time a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party has held the top executive post in the state, signaling a new chapter in regional governance.

The change in leadership follows the recent resignation of long-serving leader Nitish Kumar, who moved to a new role in the Rajya Sabha. The transition was marked by a smooth transfer of power, with the outgoing leader extending his full support to the new administration. Alongside the new Chief Minister, senior leaders Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav from the JD(U) took their oaths as Deputy Chief Ministers, reinforcing the continued strength of the coalition.

Crowds gathered outside the venue to celebrate the occasion, as supporters expressed optimism for the state’s future. In his first address after the ceremony, the new Chief Minister emphasized a commitment to inclusive growth and accelerated development. He noted that the administration would focus on enhancing infrastructure, improving education, and creating fresh economic opportunities for the youth of Bihar.

Observers view this shift as a significant moment in Indian politics, reflecting changing dynamics within the National Democratic Alliance. The new government is expected to prioritize “Sushashan” (good governance) while introducing fresh policies aimed at modernizing the state’s economy. Discussions regarding the full cabinet expansion are already underway, with a focus on balanced representation across various sectors.

As the state moves forward, the administration aims to build on previous successes while addressing persistent challenges. With a clear mandate and a collaborative spirit among alliance partners, the focus remains on transforming the region into a hub of innovation and progress. The day’s events conclude a period of political speculation and set a firm direction for the years ahead.
