KTR Fires Back at CM Over “Hybrid” Politics Row

The political atmosphere in Telangana reached a boiling point today as BRS Working President KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Speaking at a party gathering, KTR mocked the Chief Minister’s proposal for a “hybrid model” regarding the upcoming national delimitation exercise. The BRS leader did not hold back, labeling Revanth Reddy a “Hybrid Chief Minister” who lacks a consistent political ideology or stance for the state.
KTR alleged that the Chief Minister functions as a Congress representative by day but aligns himself with BJP interests by night. He argued that this “dual-standard” approach is hurting Telangana’s voice on the national stage, especially concerning the redistribution of Lok Sabha seats. The BRS has been vocal about its fears that southern states will lose significant political power if seats are increased purely based on population growth.
The controversy stems from Revanth Reddy’s recent letter to the Prime Minister suggesting that new seats be allocated using a mix of population and economic performance. KTR dismissed this suggestion as a weak compromise that fails to protect the state’s long-term interests against northern dominance. He demanded that the state government take a firm, unyielding stand instead of proposing “confusing and experimental” models that might backfire.
Furthermore, KTR criticized the government for linking the Women’s Reservation Bill with the delimitation process, calling it a delay tactic by the Center. He insisted that the 33% quota for women should be implemented immediately within the existing 119 Assembly seats in Telangana. The BRS leader warned of a massive state-wide agitation if the ruling coalition fails to prevent “political injustice” to the people of Telangana.
As the debate over seat expansion intensifies, the rift between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS has widened significantly. Political observers note that the “Hybrid CM” tag is likely to become a central theme in the BRS’s campaign against the current administration. With the 2026 political calendar busy with legislative changes, the fight for Telangana’s “self-respect” remains the hottest topic in the state capital.
