India Launches Major Six Nation Diplomatic Mission
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has started a comprehensive ten-day diplomatic tour covering six nations to strengthen India’s global footprint. The high-profile journey spans across four vital West Asian countries before moving to the United States and Belgium. This strategic mission begins at a critical time as international partners adjust to shifting political dynamics across global trade corridors.
The first phase of the tour focuses heavily on the Gulf region, with scheduled high-level meetings in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman. The minister has already held talks with leadership in Doha to assess regional stability, energy security, and trade investments. These discussions are highly significant for India, given the large diaspora residing in the region and the critical reliance on stable maritime trade routes.
Following his engagements in West Asia, the minister will head to New York to officially launch India’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2028-29 term. This bid highlights New Delhi’s growing aspiration to secure a consistent voice in global governance. The campaign launch will bring together various international delegates to discuss institutional reforms and shared security goals.
The final leg of the international tour will take place in Brussels for the India-EU Trade and Technology Council meeting. These sessions will focus on deepening strategic cooperation with European partners in sectors like semiconductor supply chains, artificial intelligence regulation, and clean energy. By engaging both traditional allies and major economic blocs, India aims to protect its economic interests while fostering long-term technological partnerships.
