Union Minister’s Son Detained in Hyderabad

In a major legal development, the Cyberabad Police have taken Bandi Sai Bhageerath into custody. He is the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar. The arrest took place in Hyderabad following recent legal proceedings involving a sensitive case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The police action followed a crucial decision by the Telangana High Court. The high court declined to grant interim legal protection to the accused, paving the way for law enforcement agencies to proceed with his detention. Investigators stated that the process adhered to standard legal protocols to ensure a fair and comprehensive investigation.
Prior to the arrest, a Hyderabad civil court passed an interim injunction regarding the matter. The court order restrained twenty-three media platforms and online channels from publishing defamatory or unverified content targeting the Union Minister. Legal representatives argued that malicious reporting could harm public reputations before the completion of due process.
The political circles in Telangana have reacted strongly to this development, given the high-profile nature of the family. While opposition leaders are demanding accountability, supporters of the Union Minister claim the timing of the case carries political undertones. The police department has maintained that the case is being handled purely on legal merits without external influence.
