Presiding over a key gathering of policy experts, top census officials, and legal authorities in New Delhi, the Home Minister emphasized that preserving the demographic balance along sensitive international boundaries is directly linked to safeguarding national sovereignty. The high-level panel, which is headed by a retired Supreme Court judge, has been explicitly tasked with mapping out geographic pockets that have witnessed unusual growth or decline in specific community populations over recent years.
The directive mandates that panel members must undertake physical ground assessments and field visits to not only the outermost border areas but also major metropolitan centers and expanding industrial hubs. The government seeks to distinguish normal internal economic migration from what it characterizes as external disruptions, including structured illegal immigration and unapproved settlement patterns.
According to senior administrative officials, the committee is expected to thoroughly analyze cross-border activities, illegal immigration networks, and regional socio-economic pressures that attract unauthorized populations to specific regions.
