PM Modi Urges Peace Amid Bangladesh Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the escalating crisis in Bangladesh during a high-level briefing today. Expressing deep concern over the recent wave of violence, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of stability in the neighboring nation. He highlighted that the safety and well-being of all communities, particularly religious minorities, must remain a top priority for the interim administration in Dhaka. His remarks come at a time when diplomatic tensions have risen following tragic incidents that have sparked protests across both nations.

The Prime Minister stated that India remains committed to its “Neighbourhood First” policy but stressed that peace is a two-way street. He noted that the recent targeted attacks on individuals and media houses are deeply distressing. India has officially communicated its stand to the global community, calling for an immediate end to lawlessness. The PM urged the interim government to ensure that diplomatic missions and Indian citizens living in Bangladesh are provided with full security and protection.

In his address, the PM also touched upon the deep historical and cultural ties between the two peoples. He mentioned that while India respects the internal processes of its neighbors, it cannot remain indifferent to humanitarian concerns. The government is closely monitoring the situation along the borders to prevent any spillover effects. Security forces have been placed on high alert to maintain peace in the border regions of West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura.

Concluding his statement, Prime Minister Modi called for a constructive dialogue to restore normalcy. He expressed hope that the upcoming electoral processes in Bangladesh would be conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful environment. He reiterated that a stable and prosperous Bangladesh is in the best interest of the entire South Asian region. India will continue to engage through formal diplomatic channels to support regional harmony and ensure justice for those affected by the unrest.
