PM Addresses Global Speakers at Samvidhan Sadan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) this Thursday. Held at the historic Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi, the event brought together legislative leaders from over 40 nations. The Prime Minister welcomed the delegates, highlighting India’s deep-rooted commitment to democratic values. He noted that the gathering serves as a vital platform for sharing legislative experiences and strengthening the bonds between Commonwealth countries.
During his keynote address, the Prime Minister emphasized that democracy in India is not just a system but a way of life that delivers results. He pointed out how the country has scaled development and public welfare through stable parliamentary institutions. He shared that India is eager to offer its open-source digital public infrastructure to partner nations. This spirit of cooperation aims to help other developing countries build robust systems for governance, ensuring that technology serves as a public good rather than a proprietary asset.
The conference, chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, features a record participation of sixty-one presiding officers. Key discussions are set to focus on contemporary challenges, including the ethical use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary work and managing the impact of social media on lawmakers. Leaders will also explore ways to increase citizen participation beyond the voting booth. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the three-day event would result in innovative strategies to make legislatures more transparent and accountable to the people.
As India hosts this prestigious forum, the focus remains on the “Global South” and inclusive growth. By bringing together diverse voices from across the globe, the conference highlights India’s growing role as a hub for democratic dialogue. The Prime Minister concluded by stating that the collective wisdom of the Commonwealth can lead to decisive solutions for global challenges. The event marks a significant moment in parliamentary diplomacy, reinforcing the idea that shared democratic principles are the foundation for a peaceful and prosperous future.
