Jagan Cites RBI Data to Counter Brand AP Claims

Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched a strong counter-offensive against the ruling TDP-Jana Sena alliance, using official Reserve Bank of India data to defend his government’s economic legacy.Addressing the ongoing narrative that “Brand Andhra Pradesh” was destroyed under his leadership, the YSRCP chief presented statistical evidence highlighting significant industrial progress between 2019 and 2024.
According to the latest figures released by the RBI, Andhra Pradesh secured the top position in South India for manufacturing sector growth in terms of Gross Value Added. Nationally, the state ranked fifth in manufacturing and eighth in overall industrial growth during the same five-year period. Jagan questioned how such high rankings were possible if investors had truly abandoned the state as alleged by his political opponents.
The former CM emphasized that these are not political figures but verified institutional data from the country’s central bank.He argued that the state’s performance in sectors like agriculture and fisheries—where it also topped national rankings—reflects a robust and resilient economy.Jagan claimed that the “false propaganda” of the current government has been “crushed brick by brick” by these official facts.
This data-driven defense comes at a time when the ruling coalition continues to blame the previous administration for a perceived investment vacuum. By shifting the focus to industrial GVA and manufacturing output, Jagan aims to reposition the YSRCP’s tenure as a period of “transformative leadership” rather than economic decline. The political heat in the state continues to rise as both sides battle over the state’s economic identity.
