New Vision for Housing: 10 Lakh Homes by 2027

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a massive initiative to provide permanent housing for its citizens. During a recent high-level meeting with district officials, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced a clear timeline to complete ten lakh homes by December 2027. This ambitious plan focuses on speed and quality, ensuring that families in need receive stable shelter within the next few years.

To maintain momentum, the Chief Minister has set an immediate milestone for the coming months. Officials have been directed to prepare 2.5 lakh houses for a massive collective housewarming ceremony on August 15, 2026. This target aligns with Independence Day celebrations, symbolizing a new beginning for lakhs of beneficiaries across the state. The government aims to demonstrate its commitment to rural and urban welfare through this large-scale execution.

District Collectors have been given strict instructions to monitor construction progress on a weekly basis. The focus remains on overcoming technical delays and ensuring that essential amenities like water and electricity are provided simultaneously with the building structure. By streamlining the supply of materials and labor, the administration hopes to avoid the stagnation seen in previous years’ projects.

The housing scheme is expected to boost the local economy by creating jobs in the construction sector. Beyond just providing walls and a roof, the initiative aims to build sustainable communities with proper infrastructure. As the 2027 deadline approaches, the state machinery is shifting into high gear to fulfill this major promise made to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
