India Wins Record Sixth Under-19 World Cup Title

The Indian Under-19 cricket team has made history once again by clinching their sixth world title. In a high-stakes final held at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe, the “Boys in Blue” defeated England by a massive margin of 100 runs. This victory cements India’s position as the most successful team in the history of the tournament.

The star of the match was 14-year-old opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He played a breathtaking innings, scoring 175 runs off just 80 balls. This performance is now the highest individual score ever recorded in an Under-19 World Cup final. His knock included 15 fours and 15 sixes, leaving the English bowlers with no answers.

Captain Ayush Mhatre supported the innings with a steady 53, helping India reach a daunting total of 411/9 in 50 overs. The middle order, including Abhigyan Kundu and Kanishk Chouhan, provided quick runs toward the end to push the score past the 400-mark.

Chasing a target of 412, England showed early fight through Ben Dawkins and Caleb Falconer. Falconer scored a valiant century, but the Indian bowling attack remained disciplined. R.S. Ambrish led the way with three wickets, while Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chouhan took two wickets each.

England was eventually bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs. The victory was celebrated across India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu congratulating the young champions for their undefeated run. This win adds to India’s previous titles in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022.

The triumph highlights the incredible depth of talent in Indian cricket. With five major ICC titles currently held by India across various formats and age groups, the future of the sport in the country looks brighter than ever.
