Google Starts $15B AI Hub in Vizag

Andhra Pradesh has taken a massive step toward becoming a global tech leader. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially started the work for Google’s new AI Data Centre in Visakhapatnam. This project costs $15 billion and marks a turning point for the state’s economy.
The new facility is set to be the largest of its kind in Asia. It will handle massive amounts of data and power advanced artificial intelligence tools. Local leaders believe this will turn Visakhapatnam into a “Digital Gateway” for the world. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs for young engineers and tech professionals in the region.
During the event, the government also launched the “Bharat AI Shakti” initiative. This plan aims to use technology to help everyday citizens. The goal is to provide AI-driven services that make government work faster and more efficient. For example, AI assistants could soon help people with land records or health services directly from their phones.
The arrival of Google has also brought other big players to the state. Companies like Adani and Airtel are joining the tech push in North Andhra. This shift is turning the coastal city into a major rival for cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Officials say this is just the beginning of a “Silicon Valley” on the East Coast.
While the tech world celebrates, the government is also focusing on local growth. By bringing in such huge investments, the state aims to boost local businesses and infrastructure. New roads, better power supplies, and high-speed internet are being planned to support the growing tech hub. This project puts Andhra Pradesh firmly on the map of the global AI revolution.
