Revanth Reddy’s Statement Triggers Heated Reactions Across Telangana

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has landed in controversy following a provocative statement made during a campaign speech in Jubilee Hills. Addressing Muslim voters, he said, “Without Congress, Muslims are nothing,” sparking immediate backlash from opposition parties and civil society groups.

The comment, interpreted by many as a form of political appeasement, has drawn sharp criticism from BJP and VHP leaders. They accused the Congress party of indulging in divisive tactics and undermining secular values.

Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao responded strongly, calling Revanth’s statement “a mirror to Congress’s vote bank politics.” He alleged that the ruling party was prioritizing religious polarization over inclusive governance.

VHP leaders echoed similar sentiments, warning that such remarks could deepen communal divides and distract from real developmental issues.

Congress leaders defended Revanth Reddy’s intent, stating that his words were misinterpreted. They emphasized the party’s historical commitment to minority welfare and inclusive policies.

Party spokespersons highlighted schemes launched for education, employment, and housing for minorities, claiming that Congress has always stood by marginalized communities.

The timing of the statement is critical, as Jubilee Hills is heading into a by-election on November 11. With 58 candidates in the fray, including representatives from Congress, BJP, BRS, and 29 independents, the political temperature is rising.

Revanth’s comment is now a central talking point in campaign debates, with parties using it to mobilize their voter base.

Citizens across Hyderabad and Telangana expressed mixed views. Some saw the statement as a reaffirmation of Congress’s support for minorities, while others viewed it as unnecessary and provocative.

A local voter from Mehdipatnam said, “We want leaders who unite us, not statements that divide.”

News channels and political analysts have dissected the statement across prime-time debates. ETV Telangana’s Ghantaravam bulletin highlighted the controversy, while social media platforms buzzed with hashtags and reactions.

Political observers believe this episode could influence voter sentiment in urban constituencies, especially among youth and first-time voters.
