Delhi Court Revives Sonia Gandhi Voter Case

A Delhi sessions court has set aside a previous lower court order that had dismissed a legal complaint regarding past voter roll entries.

The legal matter concerns allegations about electoral list records from decades ago.

A local advocate had filed a petition pointing out timeline questions regarding voter registration records from 1980.

The original complaint claimed that records showed voter list entries before formal citizenship status was acquired in 1983.

A magistrate court previously dismissed the plea, stating it lacked essential details and proper documentation.

However, the higher sessions court reviewed the revision petition and found that the earlier dismissal lacked adequate legal reasoning.

The special judge noted that complaints involving electoral roll entries and verification documents require proper judicial scrutiny.

Consequently, the sessions court sent the matter back to the lower magistrate for a fresh hearing and a reasoned order.

Legal representatives for the veteran political leader have previously dismissed the claims as politically motivated and baseless.

The lower court will now hear the parties again and evaluate the procedural aspects of the case.
