D.K. Shivakumar Set to Form New Government

The political landscape of Karnataka has witnessed a major structural shift. D.K. Shivakumar has been unanimously elected as the new Congress Legislature Party leader. This crucial decision follows the voluntary resignation of veteran leader Siddaramaiah. The transition marks the beginning of a fresh political era for the ruling party in the state.

Outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself proposed Shivakumar’s name during a high-level meeting at Vidhana Soudha. Senior leaders and state legislators quickly seconded the proposal to ensure an absolute consensus. The central leadership of the party has heavily praised this smooth transition of power. This consensus successfully avoids any internal conflict within the state administration.

Following his official election as the leader, Shivakumar met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot at Lok Bhavan. He formally staked his claim to form the new government in Karnataka. The Governor accepted the request and invited him to take charge. The official swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 3 at the Glass House.

The incoming Chief Minister expressed deep gratitude to his predecessor and the party workers. He highlighted that his journey from a student leader to the top post shows that dedicated workers are valued. The administration is now focused on finalizing cabinet portfolios and continuing welfare schemes. Both top leaders are traveling to New Delhi to discuss the new cabinet composition with the national leadership.
