Congress Launches Protests Over Rejected Rajya Sabha Form

The Congress party has declared a major political and legal fight against the ruling party and the election authorities. This movement started after election officials rejected the nomination of senior Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. Top opposition leaders have described the rejection as a deliberate strategy to take away a winning seat from their party.

The dispute began when election officials canceled the nomination papers during the scrutiny process. The decision followed an objection from the ruling party claiming that the candidate had failed to disclose a legal matter from Telangana in her official election affidavit. However, the Congress party strongly denied these claims, stating that no criminal case or formal charges exist against their candidate.

Party representatives explained that the matter in question was only a preliminary court notice regarding a private complaint, which does not require disclosure under the current election rules. They pointed out that candidates are only required to list cases where a court has formally taken notice or framed charges. The opposition group has accused the authorities of using double standards to help the ruling alliance win the seat without a contest.

In response to the cancellation, the political group approached the Supreme Court to challenge the decision and held a meeting with the Election Commission. The party has also announced a series of statewide demonstrations and public campaigns to protest the move. Leaders stated they will take this issue directly to the public to safeguard democratic processes and ensure transparency in the election system.
