BRS Stages Walkout Over Musi Project Row

The Telangana Assembly witnessed high drama as BRS members, led by KT Rama Rao, staged a massive walkout. The opposition is protesting against the Musi River rejuvenation project, alleging a financial scam worth ₹1.5 lakh crore. While KTR clarified that the party supports the river’s revival, he criticized the government for lack of transparency regarding the Detailed Project Report and the potential demolition of thousands of homes.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has strongly denied any government interference in the controversial Moinabad farmhouse case. Addressing the media, he clarified that the law is taking its own course and a nine-member Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the matter thoroughly. This comes after high-profile individuals, including an MP and a former MLA, were linked to alleged narcotics use during a recent raid.

In a significant economic milestone, Telangana has been ranked in the ‘Achiever’ category by NITI Aayog for its fiscal health. The state has shown remarkable strength in revenue mobilization, particularly through GST and excise collections. This ranking highlights the state’s growing financial autonomy and its ability to fund major development programs without over-reliance on central government transfers.

Internal friction surfaced within the ruling Congress party as Industries Minister Sridhar Babu emphasized that the high command holds the final authority over the Chief Minister’s post. This statement appeared to counter recent claims made by Revanth Reddy regarding a long ten-year tenure. The comments reflect ongoing discussions within the party about leadership stability and upcoming cabinet expansions.

On the third day of the budget session, BRS MLA Harish Rao leveled serious allegations of irregularities in road work tenders. He claimed that contracts worth ₹18,000 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model were awarded at inflated rates to benefit specific contractors. The opposition has demanded a full explanation, accusing the administration of manipulating tender processes for political funding.
