Andhra Politics Tense as Cases Filed on Leaders

The political atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh remains highly volatile following a series of dramatic events . The West Zone Police have officially registered a criminal case against former Minister and YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh. This action stems from a rally held in Ibrahimpatnam during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to the region. Authorities allege that the rally was conducted without permission, leading to public nuisance and the disruption of police duties.

Tensions escalated as Jogi Ramesh was also taken into custody by the Excise police regarding a separate “spurious liquor” case. The opposition YSRCP has condemned these moves, labeling them as a clear example of political vendetta. Jagan Mohan Reddy, after inspecting damages at party leaders’ residences, accused the ruling coalition of fostering a “Jungle Raj” where law is used as a weapon against opponents.

In a counter-move, Union Minister Jitendra Singh joined Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati to shift the narrative toward development. Together, they laid the foundation stone for India’s first “Quantum Valley.” This project aims to bring a 133-qubit quantum computer to the state. The Chief Minister emphasized that while the opposition focuses on protests, his government is busy building the economy of the next 25 years.

On the legal front, the Andhra Pradesh High Court provided a temporary breather in the ongoing political litigation by adjourning former minister Ambati Rambabu’s lunch motion petition to February 11. Meanwhile, deputy CM Pawan Kalyan addressed a gathering, urging citizens to act as guardians of tradition, further deepening the ideological divide between the ruling alliance and the YSRCP.

Adding to the state’s challenges, a one-day strike by app-based transport workers paralyzed major cities like Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. Drivers of Ola, Uber, and Rapido stayed off the roads, demanding a fixed minimum base fare. This transport crisis added a layer of public frustration to an already heated political weekend, as citizens struggled with mobility amid the ongoing political high drama.
