Y.S. Sharmila Slams Govt Over Milk Adulteration Deaths

Andhra Pradesh Congress President Y.S. Sharmila has launched a sharp attack on the state government following a tragic milk adulteration incident in Rajamahendravaram. While visiting the victims at a local hospital, she expressed deep grief over the loss of 11 lives due to contaminated milk. She accused the current administration of failing to protect the health of common citizens.
Sharmila alleged that the local milk vendor involved in this case had been operating without a proper license for over a decade. She questioned how the Food Safety Department could allow such a massive risk to public health to continue for so long. The Congress leader termed the deaths as “murders by negligence” rather than mere accidents.
During her visit, she interacted with families whose loved ones are still battling for life in critical care. She noted that many victims, including young children and the elderly, suffered severe kidney failure after consuming the toxic milk. Sharmila demanded that the government immediately increase the financial aid for the families of the deceased from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
The APCC Chief also criticized the lack of regular food quality checks across the state. She stated that the safety of essential items like milk, water, and oil is being ignored. She called for a high-level probe into the working of the Food Safety Department and urged for the immediate arrest of all those responsible for this man-made disaster.
Concluding her visit, Sharmila vowed that the Congress party would stand by the affected families until they received full justice and better medical support. She urged the Chief Minister to take direct responsibility for the regulatory failure that led to this heartbreaking situation in the Godavari region.
