Y.S. Sharmila Slams Government Over “Maha Shakti” Delay

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Y.S. Sharmila has launched a sharp attack on the state government regarding the stalled Maha Shakti scheme. Speaking on the occasion of the Sankranti festival, she expressed deep concern over the unfulfilled promises made to women across the state.

Sharmila highlighted that the Maha Shakti program, part of the “Super Six” guarantees, was intended to provide vital financial support to nearly 1.5 crore women. She pointed out that despite being in power for a significant period, the administration has yet to move beyond verbal assurances.

The Congress leader criticized the government for linking welfare implementation to various festivals like Deepavali and now Sankranti without showing real progress. She stated that the delay is not just a policy failure but a direct betrayal of the trust women placed in the ruling alliance.

The Maha Shakti scheme promised a monthly financial aid of ₹1,500 to women aged between 18 and 59 years. Sharmila argued that while the government celebrates festive occasions, many households continue to struggle without the promised support that was meant to alleviate their daily financial burdens.

Demanding an immediate release of the implementation timeline, Sharmila urged the Chief Minister to prioritize the “Aadabidda Nidhi” over other secondary projects. She emphasized that true empowerment comes from consistent support rather than seasonal slogans or political rallies.

The APCC Chief also questioned the sincerity of the government’s gender-based budgeting. She noted that while funds are being allocated to large infrastructure projects, the welfare of the common woman is being pushed to the background.

Supporters of the Congress party have joined the call, seeking transparency on when the first installment of the aid will reach bank accounts. They argue that the “Super Six” promises were the foundation of the current mandate and must be honored without further excuses.

As the political heat rises, the state government faces increasing pressure to provide a concrete update. Sharmila concluded by stating that the Congress party would continue to fight on behalf of the women until every eligible beneficiary receives their rightful dues under the scheme.
