Whistleblower’s Map Leads to Skeletal Discovery Near Dharmasthala

In a chilling turn of events, skeletal remains have been unearthed near the sacred town of Dharmasthala in Karnataka, marking a breakthrough in a case that has gripped the region with unease. The discovery was made by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at the sixth location identified by a former sanitation worker, who alleges he was coerced into burying victims of sexual assault and murder between 1998 and 2014.

The exhumation site, nestled along the banks of the Netravati River, yielded bone fragments and a portion of a skull, along with pieces of cloth. These remains have been sealed and sent for forensic analysis. The terrain—dense and rain-soaked—posed challenges, but the SIT pressed on, driven by the gravity of the allegations.

The whistleblower, whose identity remains protected, had earlier marked 13 burial spots. While the first five yielded no remains, Thursday’s excavation at the sixth site confirmed his claims. A dog squad and forensic experts were deployed to preserve evidence and prevent contamination.

The FIR was registered on July 4, following the whistleblower’s sworn testimony. The Karnataka government formed the SIT on July 19 to investigate the case. The complainant claims over 100 bodies were buried secretly, many of them women and minors.

Earlier digs revealed personal items like a PAN card and ATM card, now under forensic scrutiny. The SIT has cordoned off the area and continues to inspect remaining sites. Officials are tight-lipped but determined to uncover the full extent of the alleged crimes.

This case, unfolding in the shadow of a revered temple town, has stirred public conscience and raised urgent questions about accountability, silence, and justice. The investigation continues.
