Telugu Cine Workers Get a Boost from Telangana Government

In a major step towards inclusive growth in the Telugu Film Industry, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has unveiled a transformative welfare initiative aimed at supporting the backbone of cinema—the crew members, technicians, and daily wage workers.
At a gathering in Yousufguda, the Chief Minister announced that 20% of profits from ticket price hikes during major film releases will be redirected into a newly established Cine Workers’ Welfare Fund. This move ensures that the success of blockbuster films benefits not just producers and stars, but also the unsung heroes behind the scenes.
To kickstart the fund, the government will deposit ₹10 crore, marking a strong commitment to the welfare of the film workforce. This fund will be used to support families of workers, especially in cases of accidents or untimely deaths during film shoots.
Adding to the initiative, the Chief Minister pledged to set up a dedicated school in Krishna Nagar for the children of cine workers. The school will offer free breakfast and lunch up to Class 12, ensuring that the children receive both education and nutrition without financial burden.
This policy is expected to bring long-term stability and dignity to thousands of workers who contribute tirelessly to the Telugu Film Industry. The announcement was welcomed by several industry veterans and trade union leaders, who see it as a long-overdue recognition of the workforce’s contribution.
The initiative also aligns with the broader vision of “Telangana Rising 2047,” where inclusive development and cultural preservation go hand in hand. By institutionalizing profit-sharing and educational support, the government is setting a precedent for other states to follow.
The school project in Krishna Nagar is expected to begin construction within the next few months, with land allotment and infrastructure planning already underway. The welfare fund will be managed transparently, with regular audits and stakeholder reviews to ensure its effective utilization.
This landmark policy not only uplifts the lives of cine workers but also strengthens the social fabric of the film industry. It reflects a governance model that values every contributor, regardless of their role or visibility.
As the Telugu Film Industry continues to grow globally, such welfare measures will ensure that its foundation remains strong, ethical, and inclusive.
