Telangana CM Proposes Dialogue for Water Issues

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today made a strong appeal for inter-state cooperation to resolve long-standing water disputes. Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, he emphasized that Telangana is ready to choose solutions over conflicts. The Chief Minister highlighted that legal battles often lead to project delays that hurt the interests of farmers in both Telugu states.

He specifically addressed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, requesting him to avoid obstructing regional irrigation projects. According to Reddy, objections to projects like the Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme are hindering central approvals and bank loans. He argued that these delays increase the financial burden on the state and slow down vital infrastructure development.

The Chief Minister noted that the two states have a shared history and should work together for mutual benefits, including port connectivity. He clarified that the current government has no intention of using water issues for political gains. Instead, the focus remains on ensuring that every drop of water is utilized effectively for the welfare of the public.

By adopting this “water diplomacy” approach, Telangana hopes to unlock stalled funding and accelerate project completion. Reddy reiterated that the state’s priority is to safeguard its rightful share while maintaining a friendly relationship with its neighbors. This strategic shift aims to foster a more stable environment for regional growth and agricultural prosperity.
