Revanth Reddy Targets PM Over BRS Scam Shield

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of shielding former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao from arrest in two major corruption cases—the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project and the Formula E-race scam.

Speaking at a campaign event in Paramount Colony for the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election, Revanth Reddy questioned why the Union government had not permitted arrests despite serious allegations. He claimed that while central agencies like CBI, ED, and IT were being used to target opposition leaders, no action was taken against BRS figures allegedly involved in scams worth thousands of crores.

The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, once hailed as a flagship initiative, is now under fire for alleged financial mismanagement. Revanth Reddy stated that the state government had formally requested a CBI probe into the project, which he claimed involved misappropriation of over ₹1 lakh crore. He expressed frustration that the Centre had not responded to the demand.

In addition to the irrigation project, the Formula E-race scam has also drawn attention. Revanth alleged that K.T. Rama Rao’s involvement in irregularities surrounding the event was being overlooked. He further accused the Telangana Governor of obstructing legal proceedings and preventing KTR’s arrest for over two months.

The accusations have stirred political debate across Telangana. Opposition parties are rallying behind Revanth’s claims, while BRS leaders have dismissed the charges as politically motivated. The issue is expected to dominate discussions in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Revanth Reddy framed the issue as a battle between transparency and political favoritism. He declared that while KCR and Modi were on one side, he and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stood for accountability and justice. His remarks have energized party workers and drawn national attention.

With the Jubilee Hills by-election approaching and national elections on the horizon, the fallout from these allegations could reshape political alliances and voter sentiment. The demand for independent investigations is growing, and public pressure may force a response from central authorities.
