Revanth Challenges KCR to River Water Debate

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued a direct challenge to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President K. Chandrashekhar Rao. The Chief Minister dared his predecessor to join a special Assembly session to debate river water issues. This call comes as political tension rises over the management of the Krishna and Godavari rivers.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Revanth Reddy accused the previous BRS government of failing to protect the state’s interests. He claimed that for ten years, Telangana did not receive its rightful share of water. The Chief Minister stated that his government is ready to present clear evidence of these past mistakes in the House.
The challenge was issued after reports that KCR plans to launch a mass protest regarding irrigation projects.Revanth Reddy suggested that instead of protests, KCR should act as a responsible opposition leader.8 He asked KCR to write a formal letter requesting a debate so that the public can know the facts about water sharing. The Chief Minister also spoke about the recent Gram Panchayat election results. He described the victory of Congress-backed candidates in over 66% of villages as a “people’s mandate.” Revanth noted that the results show strong support for the government’s welfare schemes, like the ₹500 gas cylinder and free electricity. Looking ahead, the state government plans to discuss important social policies in the Assembly. This includes a proposed 42% reservation for Backward Classes in local bodies.Revanth Reddy emphasized that the government wants to move forward with transparency and democratic discussion on all major state issues
