PV Sindhu Ends 2025 Season Due to Injury

India’s badminton icon PV Sindhu has officially ended her 2025 season, citing a persistent foot injury that has not healed as expected. The announcement came as a surprise to fans who were hopeful for her return during the Denmark Open, but Sindhu confirmed she had already withdrawn from the European tour, including the Denmark and French Opens.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Sindhu explained that after consulting with her medical team and renowned sports orthopaedist Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, the decision was made to withdraw from all remaining BWF Tour events in 2025. She emphasized that while it was a difficult choice, it was necessary to prioritize long-term recovery.

The 2025 season has been a tough one for the two-time Olympic medalist. Sindhu faced early exits in several tournaments, including the Hong Kong Open, where she lost in the Round of 32. Her best performances this year were quarterfinal finishes at the India Open, World Championships, and China Masters.

Contrary to earlier expectations, Sindhu did not participate in the Denmark Open due to her injury. This marks a significant absence, as the tournament was seen as a key opportunity for her to regain form ahead of the Paris 2026 Olympics.

Sindhu, now 30, remains determined to return stronger. Her team is focusing on a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to ensure she is fully fit for the 2026 season. The Paris Olympics remain a major goal, and her fans are hopeful for a powerful comeback.

Messages of support have flooded in from across the sports community. Fellow athletes, coaches, and fans have expressed solidarity, praising Sindhu’s resilience and professionalism.

While 2025 ends on a quiet note for Sindhu, her legacy as one of India’s greatest badminton players remains intact. The focus now shifts to healing, training, and preparing for the challenges of 2026.
