Pawan Kalyan’s “Royal Sikh” Avatar in Maharashtra

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan made a powerful cultural and political statement during his visit to Maharashtra on Sunday. Accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the JSP leader visited the historic Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib Gurudwara in Nanded. The highlight of the visit was Kalyan’s appearance in a traditional royal Sikh turban and beard, a look that quickly went viral and drew massive cheers from the local crowds.
The visit was part of the 350th Shaheedi Samagam of Guru Tegh Bahadur, a major event honoring the sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru. Kalyan paid his respects at the Samadhi of Guru Gobind Singh and presented a holy chadar at the shrine. His presence at one of the five highest seats of Sikhism is seen as a strategic move by the NDA to project him as a prominent national face. While local leaders were greeted warmly, the roar for the “Power Star” from Andhra Pradesh signaled his growing influence in North India.
During his stay, the Deputy CM also inaugurated a new electronic donation facility at the Gurudwara to assist devotees. Speaking to the gathering, he praised the bravery and spiritual legacy of the Sikh Gurus, emphasizing that their sacrifices continue to inspire the nation. Religious leaders at the Gurudwara honored him with a memento and a kirpan, marking the deep spiritual bond shared during the ceremony. This visit has sparked intense discussion back home, as fans and political analysts view it as the beginning of a larger national role for the leader.
