New Project HANUMAN to Shield AP Villages

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan officially launched Project HANUMAN today in Mangalagiri. This strategic initiative stands for Healing and Nurturing Units for Monitoring, Aid, and Nursing of Wildlife. It aims to resolve the long-standing human-wildlife conflict that has troubled several forest-border districts.

During the event at the APSP Sixth Battalion grounds, the Deputy CM flagged off 100 GPS-enabled vehicles. This fleet includes 93 Rapid Response units and 7 specialized wildlife ambulances. These vehicles are designed to provide immediate medical care to injured animals and ensure the safety of villagers living near forest zones.

The government has also announced a significant increase in financial support for those affected by wildlife incidents. The ex-gratia payment for loss of life has been doubled from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh. Additionally, four new Wildlife Rescue and Treatment Centres are being established across the state to handle emergencies more effectively.

Addressing the gathering, Pawan Kalyan emphasized the importance of ecological balance and the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbam.” He noted that the project would integrate AI-based early warning systems to track animal movements. This technology will help alert residents in vulnerable areas like Chittoor and Srikakulam before conflicts occur.

To involve the local community, special village-level teams known as Vajra are being trained. these volunteers will be equipped with rescue kits to handle snake sightings and minor wildlife entries safely. The initiative marks a major shift towards using modern technology and community participation to protect both people and the environment.
