India Storms into U19 World Cup Final

India secured a spectacular seven-wicket victory over Afghanistan today to reach their sixth consecutive ICC U19 World Cup final. Chasing a formidable target of 311 at the Harare Sports Club, the young Indian side showcased incredible composure and firepower. This win marks India’s tenth overall appearance in the tournament’s summit clash, further cementing their status as the most successful team in junior cricket history.

The chase began with an explosive start from 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He dismantled the Afghan bowling attack, smashing 68 runs off just 33 deliveries. His blistering knock, which included nine fours and four towering sixes, set the tone for the innings. By the time he departed in the tenth over, India had already raced to 90 runs, putting the opposition under immense pressure from the very start of the second innings.

Aaron George emerged as the anchor of the chase, scoring a masterful century under pressure. His 115 off 104 balls was a blend of aggression and tactical strike rotation. George found an able partner in skipper Ayush Mhatre, who contributed a steady 62. Together, they stitched a 148-run partnership that effectively took the game away from Afghanistan. India eventually overhauled the target in just 41.1 overs, finishing with 311 for 3.

Earlier in the day, Afghanistan posted their highest-ever knockout score of 310/4. Centuries from Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai had given the Afghan side hope of an upset. However, the Indian batters proved too strong on a flat Harare deck. India is now scheduled to face England in the grand final this Friday. While England searches for their second title, the “Boys in Blue” are eyeing a record-extending sixth trophy.
