High Stakes Voting Ends for Telangana Urban Polls

Today, millions across Telangana participated in the crucial 2026 Municipal Elections. Voting took place in 116 municipalities and seven major corporations, marking a significant day for the state’s urban development.
From the early morning hours, voters lined up at over 8,000 polling stations. The State Election Commission reported a steady flow of citizens, with the final turnout estimated to be quite high. This election is a major test for all leading political parties to see who holds the most influence in the cities.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy cast his vote in his home constituency of Kodangal. He encouraged everyone to participate in the democratic process to help shape the future of their local towns. Other top leaders, including Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, also cast their ballots in their respective districts.
The day was mostly peaceful, thanks to the heavy security provided by thousands of police personnel. Authorities used webcasting to monitor the booths and ensure a fair process. A public holiday was declared in all voting areas to make it easier for employees and workers to reach the polling centers before they closed at 5 PM.
With the polling now over, the focus moves to the counting of votes. All the ballot boxes have been moved to secured centers under strict watch. The results are expected to be announced on February 13, which will reveal the new local leaders for the next few years.
