Harish Rao Questioned by SIT in Phone Tapping Case

n a significant political development, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister T. Harish Rao appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) . The interrogation took place at the Jubilee Hills police station in Hyderabad and lasted for approximately seven hours. This investigation is part of a broader probe into alleged illegal phone tapping that occurred during the previous government’s tenure.
Following the lengthy questioning session, Harish Rao addressed the media, stating that he fully cooperated with the officials. He characterized the notices as a form of “political vendetta” by the current Congress government. Rao argued that the timing of the summons was a strategic move to divert public attention away from recent corruption allegations his party leveled against the state leadership regarding coal tenders.
Meanwhile, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) echoed these sentiments, describing the inquiry as “attention-diversion politics.” He claimed the government is attempting to suppress the opposition’s voice after they exposed irregularities in Singareni coal block allocations. KTR noted that the party remains unfazed by such legal challenges and will continue to question the government on its promises to the public.
Outside the police station, the atmosphere remained tense as numerous BRS supporters gathered to show solidarity with their leader. While the SIT continues to examine facts and circumstances related to the case, the BRS leadership maintains that there is no evidence of wrongdoing. They have vowed to fight the matter both legally and politically in the coming days.
