Governor Outlines ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ in Budget Session

The Telangana Budget Session commenced today, with a powerful joint address by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. He unveiled the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision document, aiming to transform the state into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. The roadmap focuses on massive urban shifts, including the trifurcation of the GHMC into three separate corporations—Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and GHMC—to improve local governance and infrastructure.
The Governor highlighted the government’s success in reclaiming over 1,000 acres of urban land valued at ₹60,000 crore through the HYDRAA initiative. He also announced the creation of the Bharat Future City, a 30,000-acre greenfield smart city. However, the address drew sharp criticism from BRS and BJP legislators, who accused the government of manipulating financial facts and presenting a misleading picture of the state’s actual economic health.
On the social front, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attended a massive “Dawat-e-Iftar” at LB Stadium in Hyderabad. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized communal harmony and stated that his government has accorded top priority to minority welfare. He pointed to the induction of Mohammad Azharuddin into the Cabinet and the appointment of sports stars Mohammed Siraj and Nikhat Zareen as DSPs as proof of his administration’s inclusive approach.
A major political row intensified over the Moinabad farmhouse drug case. BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) publicly dared his rivals to subject him to a drug test, offering to provide samples anytime. This move follows allegations from the Congress party linking BRS leaders to a late-night party where several individuals reportedly tested positive for narcotics. KTR warned of legal action against anyone attempting to smear his reputation without proof.
In a boost for the rural economy, the Chief Minister announced that the first installment of Rythu Bharosa assistance would be released on March 22. About ₹3,590 crore will be credited to the accounts of 70 lakh farmers, starting from Siddipet district. This move is seen as a strategic step to maintain voter trust following the party’s recent landslide victory in the state’s urban local body elections.
