Global Tech Giants Eye Visakhapatnam for Expansion

Andhra Pradesh is rapidly transforming into a premier destination for global technology investments. Minister for IT and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, held a high-level meeting today with Capgemini Global CEO Aiman Ezzat to discuss major expansion plans. The discussions focused on establishing a massive development center and a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the port city, a move expected to generate nearly 20,000 new jobs for local youth.

During the session, Lokesh highlighted the city’s unique ecosystem, noting that Visakhapatnam is now a top choice for data centers and high-end engineering. He confirmed that work on the country’s largest Google data center is scheduled to begin shortly, further cementing the city’s status as a rising tech hub alongside existing giants like TCS and Cognizant.

The Minister also proposed a strategic partnership with state universities to create Emerging Technology Labs. These labs will focus on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing to build a steady pipeline of digital talent. Additionally, he invited the tech leader to support the state’s ambitious “Quantum Valley” initiative, aiming to place Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of the next computing revolution.

Infrastructure developments are moving in tandem with these industrial goals. The Bhogapuram International Airport is expected to be inaugurated within the next three months, significantly improving global connectivity. Lokesh emphasized that the government is committed to “WhatsApp Governance” and AI-driven public services, ensuring a business-friendly environment that rewards innovation and speed.
