Darshan Resumes at Tirumala After Eclipse Rituals

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh —
After a brief closure due to the lunar eclipse, the sacred Tirumala temple reopened its doors to devotees early this morning. The temple authorities, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), conducted traditional purification rituals before resuming darshan.

The reopening marks a return to spiritual rhythm for thousands of pilgrims who had paused their journey during the eclipse period. As per temple customs, celestial events like eclipses require temporary suspension of activities, followed by cleansing ceremonies to restore sanctity.

In a rare move, TTD temporarily suspended VIP break darshan and Sarvadarshan tokens, allowing uninterrupted focus on ritual purity and crowd management. This decision was made to ensure smooth operations and uphold the temple’s spiritual discipline.

Priests performed Sudhi and Punyahavachanam rituals at dawn, followed by the ceremonial opening of the sanctum. Devotees queued patiently, many expressing gratitude for the temple’s adherence to tradition and transparency.

“We waited overnight, and it was worth it. The energy here after the rituals feels even more divine,” said a pilgrim from Rajahmundry.

TTD officials confirmed that regular darshan schedules will gradually resume, with updates posted on official channels. Pilgrims are advised to check timings before planning their visit.

The temple’s reopening also coincides with the beginning of auspicious lunar phases, drawing devotees from across the country. With the eclipse behind and rituals complete, the hill shrine is once again alive with chants, offerings, and heartfelt prayers.

Security and sanitation teams were deployed throughout the night to ensure readiness. Volunteers assisted elderly pilgrims and helped maintain queue discipline.

TTD’s decision to pause VIP access was widely appreciated, reinforcing the temple’s commitment to equality and devotion over privilege.

As the day unfolds, Tirumala’s corridors echo with renewed faith. The temple’s reopening is not just a return to routine—it’s a reaffirmation of timeless belief, where tradition meets the present with grace.
