Hyderabad, August 30 — The Telugu film fraternity mourns the loss of Smt. Allu Kanakaratnam, a revered matriarch of the Allu family, who passed away in the early hours of Saturday due to age-related ailments. She was 94.

Born into a culturally rich lineage, Kanakaratnam was the wife of legendary actor and Padma Shri awardee Allu Ramalingaiah. Her life spanned nearly a century, during which she witnessed and supported the rise of Telugu cinema from its early days to its current global stature.

Her passing marks the end of an era for the Allu family, known for its deep roots in the film industry. The final rites were scheduled for the afternoon at Kokapet, with arrangements overseen by close family members. Prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry, including Megastar Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, and Naga Babu, were expected to attend the funeral and offer condolences.

Known for her quiet dignity and deep spiritual inclination, Kanakaratnam was often seen at family events, seated with poise and warmth. Her last public appearance was during the centenary celebrations of her husband, where she was honored on stage for her lifelong support and contribution to the family’s legacy.
