BRS Protests Over ₹12,000 Crore Fee Dues

Legislators from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a massive protest at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial, Gun Park, on Monday. The leaders are demanding that the state government immediately release ₹12,000 crore in pending student fee reimbursement arrears. They claim the delay is severely affecting the education of lakhs of students from poorer backgrounds.

During the demonstration, BRS MLAs and MLCs held placards and raised slogans against the current administration. They pointed out that many students are unable to collect their original degree certificates because colleges have not received the government funds. This situation is creating a barrier for young graduates looking for jobs or higher studies.

The opposition leaders stated that the fee reimbursement scheme was a lifeline for students from SC, ST, BC, and minority communities. They alleged that while the previous government prioritized these payments, the current delay has reached a breaking point. According to the BRS, nearly 12 lakh students are currently facing uncertainty due to the four-year backlog of dues.

In the State Assembly, the BRS requested a special discussion on this crisis. However, the Speaker did not allow the adjournment motion, leading to heated arguments. The party has vowed to continue its fight until the government provides a clear timeline for the fund release. They urged the government to use the ongoing Budget Session to allocate the necessary finances and save the academic future of Telangana’s youth.
