BJP Mahila Morcha Holds Large Protest in Vijayawada
The BJP Mahila Morcha conducted a massive protest rally in Vijayawada . The demonstration was organized to express strong disapproval of the opposition’s alleged role in stalling the Women’s Reservation Bill. Large groups of women activists gathered to demand the immediate and smooth implementation of the historic quota, which aims to provide 33% representation for women in legislative bodies.
The rally began at the local stadium and proceeded toward the Seetharampuram centre. Participants carried torches and raised slogans against the INDIA bloc parties, specifically targeting the Congress for what they described as “anti-women” political tactics. Leaders at the event argued that the opposition’s rejection of recent constitutional amendments is a direct hurdle to women’s political empowerment and national progress.
State representatives of the Mahila Morcha stated that this protest is part of a wider, nationwide movement. They emphasized that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is a matter of dignity and justice for millions of Indian women. By obstructing the bill, they claimed, opposition parties are revealing a fear of losing their traditional political grip to a new generation of women leaders.
Local police were deployed in significant numbers to manage the crowd and ensure the rally remained peaceful. Despite the heat, the turnout remained high, reflecting a surge in political mobilization among women in Andhra Pradesh. The party has announced that it will continue such demonstrations across all districts in the coming weeks to build public awareness and pressure the opposition.
