BCCI Directs Kohli and Rohit to Play Domestic Cricket

This window falls strategically between India’s home ODI series against South Africa and the subsequent one against New Zealand in January. Sources within the BCCI indicate that both players have been informed they will need to be part of the domestic grind to be considered for future national assignments, including the race for the 2027 World Cup squad.
In a move that signals his commitment, Rohit Sharma has already responded positively to the directive. He has reportedly informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will be available to represent his state team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The former captain has also been seen practicing at the Sharad Pawar indoor academy, suggesting he is preparing to return to the domestic circuit.
However, the situation regarding Virat Kohli’s availability remains uncertain. While the BCCI is hopeful, the star batter, who currently resides in London, has yet to communicate his plans to the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).
