Amaravati Hosts Historic Republic Day Parade

In a landmark moment for Andhra Pradesh, the official state Republic Day celebrations were held in the capital city of Amaravati today. This marks the first time since the state’s bifurcation in 2014 that the prestigious national event has taken place at this venue, signaling a powerful political shift and a commitment to the city’s future.

Governor S. Abdul Nazeer unfurled the Tricolor at the specially designed parade grounds near the High Court complex in Rayapudi. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and several high-ranking officials. The air was thick with patriotic fervor as eleven contingents from the Indian Army, CRPF, and State Police marched past the VIP gallery, where thousands of residents and local farmers gathered to witness the spectacle.

In his address, the Governor highlighted the state’s transition from a period of “economic uncertainty” to one of “renewed stability.” He emphasized that hosting the event in Amaravati is not merely symbolic but a testament to the government’s resolve to establish a world-class capital. A series of 22 vibrant tableaux showcased the state’s technological leaps, including the “Amaravati Quantum Valley” and “Deep Tech” initiatives.

Chief Minister Naidu utilized the occasion to reinforce his administration’s “Speed of Doing Business” model. He announced that the upcoming Budget session in Parliament would be crucial for securing statutory status for Amaravati, ensuring its growth is legally protected. The day served as a rallying point for the NDA government to demonstrate progress on key infrastructure projects like the Polavaram canal works and regional MSME parks.

Meanwhile, the opposition YSRCP marked the day with ceremonies at their central office in Tadepalli. While extending Republic Day greetings to the public, party leaders maintained their stance on decentralization, even as the state capital buzzed with the grandeur of the official parade. The day concluded with the Governor’s “At Home” event, bringing together leaders across the political spectrum in a rare moment of civic unity.
