Ajit Pawar Rebukes NCP Cadre Over Gunfire Incident, Urges Discipline and Dignity

In a stern address to party workers, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP President Ajit Pawar issued a clear warning against celebratory gunfire and public misconduct, following a troubling incident in Pune district.
At a gathering in Pune, Pawar condemned the alleged firing by the brother of an NCP MLA at a folk performance venue in Chaufula village, Daund tehsil. “Do not go to Chaufula and do not open fire in the air,” he said, emphasizing that such actions damage both personal and party reputations.
The incident has sparked concern within the party ranks, prompting Pawar to reinforce the need for responsible behavior. He reminded workers that public disturbances not only invite legal scrutiny but also erode public trust in the party’s values.
Pawar’s remarks also touched on a separate controversy involving the alleged dowry death of Vaishnavi Hagawane, daughter-in-law of expelled NCP leader Rajendra Hagawane. The young woman reportedly died by suicide in May, with her family alleging harassment and a demand for ₹2 crore in dowry.
“I would never have attended their wedding had I known,” Pawar stated, distancing the party from the accused and reiterating that such behavior has no place in public life.
He urged party members to uphold the legacies of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, calling for communal harmony and ethical conduct.
The message was clear: discipline, dignity, and accountability must guide every action of those representing the NCP. Pawar’s address signals a renewed push for internal reform and public responsibility within the party ranks.
