Suzlon’s 381 MW Wind Project Signals India’s Leap Toward Reliable Clean Power

India’s renewable energy ambitions gained fresh momentum today as Suzlon Group confirmed a landmark 381 MW wind energy project in partnership with Zelestra India. This initiative marks a pivotal shift toward dependable, round-the-clock clean energy, aligning with the country’s evolving power needs.
The project will deploy 127 of Suzlon’s advanced S144 turbines, each rated at 3 MW. These installations will span three states—Maharashtra (180 MW), Madhya Pradesh (180 MW), and Tamil Nadu (21 MW)—forming part of India’s first Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) initiative.
Zelestra’s entry into the Indian market with this maiden FDRE venture reflects a strategic push for scalable, multi-technology clean energy solutions. The Tamil Nadu segment will cater specifically to Commercial & Industrial (C&I) consumers, while the Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh portions are aligned with SJVN’s FDRE bid.
Suzlon’s integrated capabilities—from turbine manufacturing to lifecycle support—are central to the project’s execution. The company’s proven track record across 17 countries and its installed capacity of over 21 GW globally reinforce its role as a trusted partner in India’s energy transition.
Zelestra, with a global portfolio of 29 GW across 13 countries, aims to deliver 5 GW of clean energy in India through hybrid projects strategically co-located for interconnection certainty by 2027 and 2028.
This collaboration not only strengthens India’s green portfolio but also sets a precedent for future FDRE deployments. It underscores the growing demand for reliable, dispatchable renewable power and the industry’s readiness to meet that challenge with innovation and scale.
As the nation accelerates toward its net-zero goals, projects like these are expected to redefine the contours of energy security, sustainability, and industrial growth.
