Rahul Gandhi Backs Revanth’s Vision, KTR Alleges Mining Scam

In a high-profile political day for Telangana , the state witnessed a mix of national leadership visits and intense local opposition fire. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi concluded a ten-day training camp for District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents in Vikarabad. During the event, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made a strong appeal for Rahul Gandhi to lead the nation as Prime Minister. Gandhi, in a significant gesture, signaled his readiness to take up the responsibility if the party and people desired, marking a major morale booster for the state unit as they prepare for the 99-day “Praja Palana-Pragati Pranalika” governance program starting March 6.

However, the ruling Congress faced sharp criticism from the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) wrote a blistering letter to the Chief Minister, demanding the immediate cancellation of e-auction tenders for mines in Suryapet. KTR alleged massive procedural lapses and statutory violations, claiming that nearly 1,100 acres of reserved forest land were being illegally auctioned without mandatory No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Forest Department. He termed the process “legally questionable” and demanded an independent, time-bound probe into the selection of preferred bidders.

On the national front, the BJP launched a coordinated attack on the “RR (Rahul-Revanth) Tax” model. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and State BJP leaders mocked the Congress training camp, questioning if the visit was aimed at political strategy or merely “financial mobilization.” They accused the Revanth Reddy government of failing to fulfill the six major guarantees promised during the elections. BJP leaders also highlighted the ongoing demolition drives by HYDRAA, claiming the government is targeting the poor while ignoring the actual needs of the state’s residents.

The state government also moved into emergency mode regarding the escalating West Asia conflict. Under CM Revanth Reddy’s direction, a 24/7 control room has been established at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi to assist Telangana citizens stranded in the Middle East. This administrative move comes amid reports of travel disruptions and security concerns for thousands of Gulf workers. The government is coordinating closely with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safety of its diaspora, emphasizing a “people-first” approach during global crises.

Adding to the political friction, BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar accused the government of conspiring to destroy the state’s education system. Criticizing a recent Education Commission report, he claimed the proposed reforms would hurt the self-esteem of 1.7 lakh teachers and disadvantage rural students by scrapping the EAPCET exam. As the state moves toward a major administrative reshuffle and the local body elections approach, the friction between the Congress, BRS, and BJP is reaching a crescendo, setting the stage for a heated political summer in the Deccan.
