PM Modi Unveils “MANAV” Vision at India AI Impact Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “MANAV” framework today at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. Addressing global leaders at Bharat Mandapam, the Prime Minister defined MANAV—meaning “human”—as a roadmap for ethical and inclusive technology. The vision stands for Moral systems, Accountable governance, National sovereignty, Accessible AI, and Valid systems. He emphasized that technology must serve human dignity rather than just processing data.

During his keynote, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s role as a creator and rapid adopter of emerging tech. He noted that India is now home to one of the world’s largest talent pools. Modi called for the democratization of AI to ensure it benefits the Global South instead of becoming a monopoly. He stressed that while AI can make work smarter, the final “command” must always remain in human hands to prevent disruption.

The summit saw significant participation from world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and various tech CEOs. Prime Minister Modi invited the global community to “Design and Develop in India, Deliver to the World.” He also flagged risks like deepfakes, urging for global standards in watermarking and source labels. This human-centric approach aims to build trust in digital systems from the start.

To support this mission, the government has approved the IndiaAI Mission with an outlay exceeding ₹10,300 crore. This investment will strengthen computing capacity and provide affordable GPU access for startups and researchers. Modi asserted that any AI model succeeding in India’s diverse landscape can solve problems globally. The event marked a milestone in positioning India as a leader in responsible and safe artificial intelligence.
