OG Storms Screens, Fans Celebrate Big

Pawan Kalyan’s latest film They Call Him OG has taken the box office by storm, opening to massive collections and fan frenzy. Released on September 25, the gangster drama has already crossed ₹116 crore worldwide in just three days, making it one of the biggest openers of 2025.

Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya, the film features Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a retired gangster who returns to Bombay in 1993 to confront his past. Emraan Hashmi plays the antagonist Omi Bhau, marking his Telugu debut. The ensemble cast includes Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj.

The film opened with ₹21 crore from preview shows, followed by ₹63.75 crore on Day 1. Though collections dipped slightly on Day 2 and 3, the momentum remains strong in Telugu-speaking regions. Cities like Hyderabad, Vizag, Warangal, and Kakinada reported occupancy rates above 50%, with Kakinada peaking at nearly 60%.

Despite mixed reviews, fans have embraced the film’s high-octane action, stylish visuals, and Pawan Kalyan’s commanding performance. The music by Thaman adds intensity, and the film’s retro Bombay setting has struck a nostalgic chord.

The Telugu version dominates the box office, while dubbed versions in Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada have seen limited traction. The film’s appeal is largely regional, but its pan-India ambition is evident in its scale and casting.

Social media is buzzing with fan edits, dialogues, and celebrations. The hashtag #OGSambavam has trended across platforms, with fans calling the film a “mass feast” and “Pawan’s comeback roar.” Theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have seen packed shows, with many fans watching the film multiple times.

Industry experts note that They Call Him OG has already surpassed Pawan Kalyan’s previous hits like Bheemla Nayak and Vakeel Saab. It’s expected to cross ₹150 crore by the end of its first week, with weekend footfalls driving the numbers.

The film’s success also comes at a time when Telugu cinema is expanding its reach. With upcoming releases like Devara and Pushpa 2, the industry is poised for a blockbuster season.

They Call Him OG blends mass appeal with stylish storytelling, offering fans a cinematic experience that’s both nostalgic and fresh. Whether it’s the gangster swagger, the emotional undertones, or the electrifying action, the film delivers a punch that resonates with audiences.

As the box office numbers climb, the film’s impact is clear: Pawan Kalyan remains a force to reckon with, and OG is his loudest roar yet.
