Jagan Assures Justice to 90-Year-Old Woman

In a poignant meeting at the YSRCP central office, former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy personally interacted with 90-year-old Nelluri Seshagiriamma. The elderly resident of Rayapudi village in Thullur mandal shared a distressing account of her struggle. She alleged that her land was illegally seized under the guise of the Amaravati land pooling process without the promised compensation.
Seshagiriamma broke down while explaining that she was misled by officials from the Capital Region Development Authority. Despite numerous appeals to various revenue departments over the years, her pleas for justice remained unanswered. She expressed deep emotional pain, stating that she was left in a vulnerable state in her old age without the financial security she was originally guaranteed.
Responding to her grievance with visible concern, Jagan Mohan Reddy assured the woman that her fight was not solitary. He stated that the YSRCP would stand firmly by her side until she received a fair resolution. The former CM used this opportunity to criticize the current administration’s handling of land pooling, claiming that the voices of small-scale farmers and the elderly are being ignored.
This interaction has reignited the debate over the social costs of the Amaravati project. While the ruling alliance celebrates the legislative progress of the capital, the opposition highlights these human stories to point out systemic flaws. Jagan reiterated that the party would explore all legal and political avenues to ensure that victims like Seshagiriamma are not forgotten in the rush for construction.
The meeting was attended by family members of the complainant, who echoed her concerns about the lack of transparency in the past few years. As the state moves forward with its capital development plans, such incidents highlight the ongoing friction between development goals and individual rights. The YSRCP has vowed to make these grievances a central part of their public outreach in the coming weeks.
