The Congress party has officially released its list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha biennial elections. This strategic move aims to balance national legal expertise with regional leadership. Senior advocate and sitting MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi has been re-nominated from Telangana. Alongside him, the party has fielded Vem Narender Reddy, a trusted political strategist and close associate of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

The selection of Vem Narender Reddy is viewed by political observers as a significant move to consolidate the Chief Minister’s influence within the state. In Chhattisgarh, the party has re-nominated Phulo Devi Netam, emphasizing continuity in representation. From Haryana, Karamvir Singh Boudh has been selected, while Anurag Sharma will contest from Himachal Pradesh. The nomination of M. Christopher Tilak from Tamil Nadu further reflects the party’s diverse candidate profile.

These nominations were finalized after high-level discussions in New Delhi involving party president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader K.C. Venugopal. The elections for these crucial seats are scheduled for March 16. By choosing a mix of seasoned veterans and local loyalists, the Congress leadership aims to strengthen its voice in the Upper House while rewarding long-term party dedication across various states.

The filing of nominations concluded today, marking a formal start to the electoral process. The party’s focus now shifts to ensuring a smooth voting process and maintaining unity among its legislators. With these names, the Congress party signals its readiness to address both national legislative challenges and regional political aspirations effectively in the coming parliamentary term.
