Jagan Slams Naidu Over Credit for Steel Plant

Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched a sharp offensive against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of “blatant credit theft.” Speaking at a party gathering in Tadepalli, Jagan claimed that the groundwork for the mega ArcelorMittal steel project in Anakapalli was entirely established during his previous tenure.

Jagan highlighted that a preliminary understanding with ArcelorMittal CEO Aditya Mittal was reached as early as 2022 during the World Economic Forum in Davos. He stated that his administration had already identified multiple sites and finalized Nakkapalli for the project before the elections. According to the YSRCP chief, the current government is merely rebranding past efforts to mislead the public.

Beyond the steel plant, the former CM questioned the stagnation of the Bulk Drug Park in Nakkapalli. He alleged that the TDP-led coalition has intentionally created land disputes, leading to the loss of potential investments and local jobs. Jagan asserted that these actions were designed to suppress the achievements of the YSRCP government while failing to deliver on the “Super Six” election promises.

The opposition leader also expressed concern over the state’s rising debt and the decline of welfare sectors like health and education. He claimed that flagship programs like Aarogyasri are suffering due to a lack of funds. Jagan concluded by rallying his party cadre, promising that “Jagan 2.0” would focus on restoring these schemes and empowering local leadership as the state prepares for future administrative changes.
